Each hero has three active abilities on independent cooldowns. Basic abilities are ready frequently -- ultimates require timing and game sense. Heroes are era-locked: you can only deploy a hero in levels from their historical period.
Available frequently. Used to control immediate threats, boost economy, or set up synergy combos. The ability you use most in any given run.
Higher impact, longer cooldown. Often shapes the flow of a wave or provides critical defensive utility. Requires more deliberate timing.
Map-wide or boss-eliminating power. Saving your ultimate for the right moment -- a boss phase transition, a wave 20 swarm -- is the difference between 2 stars and 3.
Every battle grants hero XP proportional to waves survived and enemies defeated. Replay any level -- XP is earned on every attempt, not just first completion. No daily limits, no energy systems.
Each level improves two random hero stats (damage, cooldown reduction, duration, area) and reduces all ability cooldowns by 1%. Max level is capped to prevent power inflation across the player base.
